What is the Cambridge Weight Plan?

In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Biochemist, Dr, Alan Howard, developed an interest in weight loss and obesity.  Dr. Howard back then worked at Dunn Laboratories in Cambridge.

Dr Howard went on to work with Dr Ian McLean-Baird, of the West Middlesex Hospital, and they developed what they considered to be the “perfect diet”.   Through this process, their goal was to create a formula food with excellent weight loss properties that had no undesirable side effects. It needed to have the right level of protein and carbs.  It also needed to have the right level of vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids to maintain good health.

Eventually all of this lead to the launch of the commercial version of the Cambridge Diet plan in 1984.  Now, more than 30 million people all over the globe have used the Cambridge Diet Plan.  Cambridge Weight Plan Girl

The commercial version of the Cambridge Weight Plan is offered on their website.  This is a Direct Sales or Multi-level Marketing Company that also offers a business opportunity for people to become trained consultants and earn a commission.

The company sells pre-packaged food that you can buy to make it easier.  You will also be assigned a Consultant to help you with your weight loss journey.

Does the Cambridge Weight Plan work?

People claim to be getting amazing results from the Cambridge Weight Plan.  I also know that this works because cutting back on your calories and carbs leads to definite weight loss.  I know this first hand.  I do not follow the Cambridge Weight Plan but I do watch my calories and carbs.  That is how I stay fit.

My Final Thoughts on the Cambridge Weight Plan  My Final Thoughts on the Cambridge Weight Plan

I do believe that the Cambridge Weight Plan is a good and healthy way to lose weight.  Getting ready to eat foods would be great to help a very busy person stay on track.  The weight loss formula is based on a science that definitely works.  I know this first hand from my own weight loss journey of low net carbs and counting calories.

It may be inspiring for some to have a personal Consultant while others may not need that type of accountability to stay on track.  Personally, I do not need it.

The ready to eat foods remind me a lot of Nutri System.  I did do Nutri System before when I was learning how to calculate my food properly and explore diets.  It worked well and is a really good diet plan.

I believe this weight plan is a great one and would definitely work.

Although I am not a fan of MLMs, I do like the fact that Cambridge offers training for its consultants.  That is something special about the company.

I believe that a person can make money with this but I also believe there are better ways to make money for those who want to start their own business.  I will share that with you in the next section.

  1. I could certainly stand to lose a few pounds. Like maybe 50, lol. With that said, I’ve never been big on MLM opportunities. However, I’m open-minded enough to know that if I found the right one, I would be far more receptive to getting involved. I guess that since I can actually use this myself, I can prove its value with before and after pics of myself, rather than someone else’s pics whose accuracy often can’t be proven. I might actually consider this! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Mark,

You are funny!  Most all of us could stand to lose a few pounds so do not feel bad.

A lot of people are claiming to have lost a lot of weight on the Cambridge Weight Plan.  The plan makes sense.

I am not a fan of MLMs though.  I do believe if a person uses under 50 net carbs per day, they will lose weight.  This is what I do.  And you can track this by using the MyFitnessPall App.  This way will not cost you any money other than food.  🙂

Thank you so much for your comment!

  2. If the Cambridge weight loss plan can help to reduce the amount of fat in the human system and at the end of the day one gets to lose weight then I believe that it is very successful. I am not sure about the business model though but I will like to try the plan because of the way it operates. This is very nice, something I will like to learn personally. Thanks a lot for this awesome information.

    1. Henderson,

I am so glad that you found my article to be useful!

The Cambridge Weight Plan does sound effective.  Many people are getting results.  I like the fact that it was developed at Cambridge!

I do not like the business model either.  I do not support MLMs.

If you need a structured diet plan, it is worth exploring further.

      Thank you for your comment!

  3. I don’t know anything about the Cambridge weight loss plan but I am familiar with Weight Watchers and I lost over 35 pounds with WW in 6 months. Now, I’m not opposed to trying other weight loss programs in the future should I need to and I’m glad that you put that information out there to let us be more informed.

I love the setup of your website – If you don’t mind me asking – How long have you been at WA? and how soon did you start making actual money ?

    1. Jessie,

That is awesome that you lost weight with Weight Watchers!  I do like the Weight Watchers plan.  I find it easier to lose weight if I just stick to under 50 net carbs per day.  I could stand to lose a few more right now so I need to be more strict about it.

I have been with Wealthy Affiliate since 2015.  Although I had a full-time Information Technology job and could only work on it on my lunch breaks which was not enough.  I am a single Mom too so I was always busy with my precious child.  🙂

I only started doing WA and building my websites full-time within the past several months.  That is when I started seeing results is when I started publishing regular content.  It does take time though just don’t give up!

I am always pushing myself and striving to do better!

      Talk soon!

  4. Hm, I am a person who always likes to watch my weight and that’s why I consider this post a very good one and also very relatable. I feel like I will seriously need to try this programme. I like the fact that this has started for quite a while and it is borne out of good research. Your review of the Cambridge weight plan reveals a whole lot about it. This is very nice. Keep up the good work.

    1. John,

Thank you so much for your comment on my article about the Cambridge Weight Plan!

I also like to watch my weight.  I do think this is a great diet for someone who needs a structured plan.  Personally, I keep my carbs under 50 net carbs per day and that works for me.

Thank you again for your positive feedback!  It is so good to hear!

      Best wishes!

      Alisha
